What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of relaxed interactive sessions exploring big questions about life and the Christian faith. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone's welcome. It runs online, in cafés, churches, universities, homes - you name it, it's probably run there!  30 million people globally have tried Alpha, and it is designed primarily for people who wouldn't call themselves Christians.

We've been running Alpha for 30 years. We keep doing it because we love it. Each Alpha is different, but one thing we always see is a brilliant sense of community, friendship and great conversations. For many people, Alpha has given them answers to questions they have wrestled with for a long time.

What Does Alpha look like?

No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: connection, content and conversation.

Connection
All sessions start with a time to connect, relax and build friendships over a meal together. It is completely free.

Content
The episodes unpack questions about life through the lens of the Christian faith, addressing questions such as:
- Who is Jesus?
- How can we have faith?
- What about evil?
- How does God guide us?

Conversation
One of the most important parts of any Alpha is the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic and discuss in a small group. There's no obligation to say anything, and there's nothing you can't say (seriously). It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
